Quiet mode is a feature on Instagram that allows users to pause notifications automatically every night. It is designed to help people focus and encourage them to set boundaries with their friends and followers. When enabled, it turns off notifications and sends an auto-reply when someone sends a direct message (DM) . The feature is available to all Instagram users in the US, UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
To turn on Quiet mode, users need to follow these steps:
- Open the Instagram app.
- Tap on your profile picture in the bottom right corner.
- Tap on the three horizontal lines in the top right corner.
- Tap on Settings.
- Tap on Notifications.
- Tap on Quiet Mode.
- Push the Quiet Mode slider to the right.
- Choose how long you want Quiet Mode on. You can set it to turn on automatically and stay on for up to 12 hours.
Once Quiet mode is turned on, notifications will be paused, and the users profile activity status will change to "Quiet Mode". Any DMs received during this time will get an auto-reply. When the feature is turned off, users will get a brief summary of notifications they missed. Anyone can use Quiet mode, but Instagram will prompt teens to do so when they spend a specific amount of time on Instagram late at night.
