Rhea is a goddess in Greek mythology, and was an ancient Greek Titaness, the mother of the gods, and goddess of female fertility and motherhood. She was the daughter of Uranus and Gaea, and the wife of the Titan Cronus. Rhea was closely identified with the Anatolian mother-goddess Kybele (Cybele) . She was the mother of the five eldest Olympian gods Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Poseidon and Zeus; and Hades, king of the Underworld. Rhea was sometimes represented as a goddess of childbirth and was worshipped widely throughout the ancient Greek world.
