what is ruqyah

Ruqyah is a practice in Islam that involves the recitation of specific Quranic verses or saheeh hadith for seeking refuge in Allah and healing from ailments and sickness. It is similar to a form of du’a that contains the recitation of certain Quranic verses, as well as other incantations and invocations according to the Prophetic tradition of Prophet Muhammad. Ruqyah is believed to repair damage believed to have been caused by jinn possession, witchcraft (sihr), or the evil eye. It is a means of cure for evil eye, magic, jinn, and physical ailments.
