A sixth form college is an educational institution where students aged 16 to 19 study for advanced post-school level qualifications such as A Levels, Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) qualifications, and other vocational courses. These colleges are typically larger than school sixth forms and offer a wider range of courses, including technical and vocational qualifications. They provide students with more independence, a greater sense of socializing, and access to more extensive resources, including state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. Sixth form colleges are separate from secondary schools and are more informal than school sixth forms. They are considered a middle ground between Further Education (FE) colleges and school sixth forms, offering a broader range of study options than a school sixth form, but with a similar age range for students.
