Snooker is a cue sport played on a rectangular billiards table covered with a green cloth called baize, with six pockets, one at each corner and one in the middle of each long side. The game is played with 22 balls, made up of one white ball (the cue ball); 15 red balls, valued at 1 point each; one yellow, 2 points; one green, 3; one brown, 4; one blue, 5; one pink, 6; and one black, 7. The aim of the game is to strike the white cue ball so that it strikes the colored and pink balls in turn and causes them to fall into one of the six pockets. Points are awarded for legally potting balls in accordance with the rules outlined below, or when the opponent commits a foul. Snooker balls are slightly smaller than pool balls, and snooker cues are about the same length as pool cues, though some have a slightly smaller tip. The game is usually played between two people, and the object of the game is for one player to win more frames than their opponent.
