SOCE stands for "Statement of Contributions and Expenditures" and is required by law for all candidates who run for public office in the Philippines. The SOCE is a document that details the contributions and expenses made by a candidate or their campaign committee during an election campaign. The purpose of the SOCE is to ensure transparency and accountability in the election process by providing information on how much money was spent and where it came from. The SOCE is filed with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) within 30 days from Election Day. The Comelec uses the SOCE to check whether the expenses of the candidates were within the limits prescribed by law, what specifically the expenses were for, who their donors were and their motives for their large contributions, and whether they and their donors could truly afford the alleged donations and expenses. Failure to file the SOCE can result in penalties and disqualification from running for public office in the future.
