SOCSO, or the Social Security Organization (SOCSO) in Malaysia, is a government agency established in 1971 under the Ministry of Human Resources. It operates under the Employees' Social Security Act 1969 and is also known as PERKESO (Pertubuhan Keselamatan Sosial). SOCSO's main purpose is to provide social security protection, including cash and benefits, to employees in the private sector in the event of emergencies, occupational sickness, and death. It administers two social security schemes: the Employment Injury Scheme and the Invalidity Scheme. Both employers and employees are required to make monthly contributions to SOCSO, and the organization is responsible for registering employees and employers, collecting contributions, and paying benefits to workers and their dependents when necessary
