STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. It is an educational program developed to prepare primary and secondary students for college, graduate study, and careers in these fields. STEM aims to foster inquiring minds, logical reasoning, and collaboration skills, in addition to subject-specific learning. The goal of STEM programs is to increase the supply of qualified high-tech workers, bolster innovation, improve the countrys competitive position globally, and strengthen economic growth. The STEM strand in senior high school is designed to nurture students’ curiosity, problem-solving abilities, and communication skills. It exposes students to learning activities that hone their knowledge and skills in analyzing data, understanding real-world impacts, and conducting research. STEM integrates multiple disciplines and trains students to use cross-disciplinary knowledge to solve problems. STEM majors are represented in every sector of the economy, including the private sector, nonprofits, and the government or military.
