Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument located on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, England. It consists of a ring of standing stones, with each stone being around 13 feet high and weighing around 25 tons. The monument was built in several stages, with the first monument being an early henge built about 5,000 years ago, and the unique stone circle being erected in the late Neolithic period about 2500 BC. Stonehenge is aligned with the sunrise on the summer solstice and the sunset on the winter solstice. It is believed to have been a religious site and an expression of power and wealth, possibly used for observing the sun and moon, working out the farming calendar, or as a healing center. The exact purpose of Stonehenge remains a subject of debate and speculation
