In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (MW3), Tactical Stance, also known as "Tac-Stance," is a new aiming option designed for close-quarters encounters to offer the best of hip-fire and aiming down sights. It provides improved mobility speed and visibility over looking down a scope, while avoiding the wide bullet spray of firing from the hip. Tactical Stance is activated by default and can be used by aiming with the left trigger and pressing down on the D-Pad or by sliding. It is best used at close distances, allowing players to react to an enemys presence faster and with more precision than the other two aiming options. The weapon will be at a slanted angle, with a tighter crosshair appearing on the screen when aiming with Tactical Stance. Players can customize the activation and behavior of Tactical Stance in the gameplay settings under Combat Behaviors. On PlayStation and Xbox, Tac-Stance can be turned on and off by pressing ADS+Down Button, and on PC, it can be toggled by pressing ADS+V.
