Tata Play is an Indian subscription-based satellite television (DTH) service provider that uses MPEG-4 digital compression technology and transmits using INSAT-4A GSAT-10 and GSAT24 satellites. Tata Play was formerly known as Tata Sky and was incorporated in 2001, with services launched in 2006. It is currently the largest DTH service provider in India, serving 21.3 million subscribers as of March 2023. Tata Play offers over 630 channels, including 543 SD channels and 91 HD channels, along with many other value-added services.
Tata Play offers a mobile app that enables subscribers to experience content from linear channels as they would have watched it on their TV sets, along with services such as on-demand and remote recording. Tata Play Binge is an Android-based 4K set-top box that combines the benefits of DTH and OTT, enabling subscribers to watch both linear channels (broadcasted via satellite) and OTT content (via the internet). Tata Play Binge+ doubles up as a gaming box as well, with a plethora of apps and games available on Google Play store.
