Terrestrial plants are plants that grow on, in, or from land. They are distinguished from aquatic plants, epiphytic plants (living on trees), and lithophytic plants (living in or on rocks). Terrestrial plants include non- native plants that grow in non-aquatic habitats, including agricultural fields, rangelands, forests, urban landscapes, wildlands, and along waterways. They include trees, shrubs, vines, grasses, and herbaceous plants. All terrestrial plants are made up of three body parts: roots, stems, and leaves. Roots take up water and nutrients from soil, stems provide support and allow materials to flow between roots and leaves, and leaves are the photosynthesizing powerhouses.
