The official mascot of Texas A&M University is Reveille, also known as the First Lady of Aggieland. Reveille is a Rough Collie, and the first Reveille came to Texas A&M in January 1931 when a group of cadets adopted a small black and white dog they found along Highway 6. The dog was named Reveille after her habit of barking when the bugler called reveille to wake the cadets each morning. The following football season, Reveille I was officially named the mascot of Texas A&M when she led the band onto the field during their halftime performance. Since then, there have been nine other Reveilles, with the most recent being Reveille X, who assumed her mascot duties in May 2021.
