The Dark Urge is a character origin in the video game Baldurs Gate 3. If you choose this origin, your character will wake up with no recollection of their life before the Natiloid crash, except for a desperate yearning for violence and bloodshed. The Dark Urge has a murderous past shrouded in blood, violence, and gore. The character's violent thoughts will plague them and make up the majority of their background goals, and some of them are disturbing. The Dark Urge has an impulse to maim and kill, and sometimes the player can't control it. The Dark Urge wipes the player character's memory but leaves them with a deep hunger for murder. This compulsion for murder is ever-present, and no one is safe even from the player's imagination. The Dark Urge initially alters dialogue options, and as players progress through Baldur's Gate 3, not only do these Dark Urges become stronger and more powerful, but the truth slowly comes to light. The Dark Urge origin grants the player particular interactions and adventures during their journey. The good news is that, for the player's troubles, they will get their very own Dark Urge butler in the shape of Sceleritas Fel, and there are some exclusive items only available with the Dark Urge origin - as well as a unique shapeshifter form, The Slayer.
