The Haunting of Bly Manor is a Netflix series created by Mike Flanagan and released on October 9, 2020. It is the second entry in Flanagans The Haunting anthology series and is based on the 1898 novella The Turn of the Screw by Henry James. However, the show also includes other elements either based on James other works or created for the show. The series follows the events occurring in the eponymous countryside manor in the United Kingdom, mostly upon the arrival of a young American hired as an au pair for the two children living at Bly, and who is unaware that the manor is haunted. While The Turn of the Screw provides the axis on which the season turns, some of Blys most chilling moments are pulled from other James stories. The shows creator, Mike Flanagan, expanded the story and characters significantly, adding a lot of new elements to create a rich nine-episode series.
