The leading causes of death in the United States are heart disease, cancer, and COVID-19. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the number of deaths for the leading causes of death in 2021 were as follows: heart disease (695,547), cancer (605,213), and COVID-19 (416,893)
