The main focus of the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) is training and education in the field of geoinformatics, with a focus on technology and applications of Remote Sensing, GIS, and GPS. IIRS provides support to conduct all its remote sensing and GIS training & education programs at the postgraduate level. The institute offers M. Tech in Remote Sensing and GIS in Natural Resource Management, affiliated to Andhra University, in various optional streams such as Agriculture and Soils, Forestry and Ecology, Geosciences, Marine and Atmospheric Sciences, Human Settlement Analysis, and Water. In addition to training and education, IIRS also focuses on research and knowledge building.
