The holy book of Islam is called the Qur'an. It is believed by Muslims to be a revelation from God, orally revealed to the final prophet, Muhammad, through the archangel Gabriel over a period of 23 years. The Qur'an consists of 114 chapters, known as surahs, and is widely regarded as the finest work in Arabic literature
. The Qur'an mentions the Torah, Psalms, and Gospel as being revealed by God, and Muslims believe that the Gospel refers to a single volume book called "The Gospel of Jesus," supposedly an original divine revelation to Jesus Christ
