The Presidents Cup is a biennial global team competition between the United States and an International team that represents the rest of the world excluding Europe. It is a four-day, match play event with 30 total matches, comprised of a 12-person U.S. Team and 12-person International Team. Unlike the Ryder Cup, the Presidents Cup begins play on Thursday of tournament week. The team that earns the most points after four days of competition wins the Presidents Cup. The event was created and is organized by the PGA Tour. Each contest has an Honorary Chairman or Chairwoman, the head of state or head of government of the host nation. There is no prize money awarded at the Presidents Cup. The net proceeds are distributed to charities nominated by the players, captains, and captains assistants. The first ten Presidents Cups raised over US$32 million for charities around the world. The Presidents Cup began in 1994, with a competition held at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Prince William County, Virginia, USA. The next Presidents Cup will be held from September 24–29, 2024 at Royal Montreal Golf Club in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
