Today in London, a massive protest led by far-right activist Tommy Robinson called "Unite the Kingdom" took place, drawing an estimated 110,000 to 150,000 participants. The rally was primarily focused on anti-immigration and free speech issues, with demonstrators waving English and British flags and chanting slogans against asylum seekers. The protest turned violent in parts, with clashes between some participants and the police, resulting in injuries to at least 26 officers, four seriously. Around 25 people were arrested for offenses including violent disorder and assault. At the same time, a counter- protest organized by anti-racism groups such as Stand Up to Racism occurred nearby with about 5,000 attendees advocating against the far-right rally and supporting refugees. The police deployed roughly 1,000 officers to keep the two opposing groups separated and maintain order during the day’s demonstrations around central London, near landmarks including the Houses of Parliament.
