Unit for Mass
The unit for mass is the kilogram (kg) in the International System of Units (SI) . The metric system also uses the gram (g) as a unit of mass, with the kilogram being equal to 1000 grams. The basic unit of mass in the metric system is the gram, and the kilogram is the larger unit used for heavier objects. In the metric system, "milli" means 1/1,000 and "kilo" means 1,000, so a milligram is 1/1,000 of a gram, and a kilogram is 1,000 grams.
