TVET stands for Technical and Vocational Education and Training). It refers to all forms and levels of education and training that provide knowledge and skills related to occupations in various sectors of economic and social life through formal, non-formal, and informal learning methods in both school-based and work-based settings). TVET serves multiple purposes, including preparing youth for work, developing work-related skills, and mastery of underlying knowledge and scientific principles). It also aims to develop personal capacities that relate to realizing ones full potential with regard to paid or self-employment, occupational interests, and life goals outside of work). TVET can take place at secondary, post-secondary, and tertiary levels and includes work-based learning and continuing training and professional development which may lead to qualifications. It combines formal and informal learning to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed in the workplace, with a focus on the technical aspects. TVET is an important tool for governments to decrease unemployment, provide a workforce to the private sector, and attract foreign direct investment.
