UEFI, or Unified Extensible Firmware Interface, is a modern firmware interface for computers, serving as a replacement for the traditional BIOS (Basic Input/Output System). It stores all data about initialization and startup in an .efi file, instead of storing it on the firmware, and is designed to overcome many limitations of the old BIOS. UEFI has many advantages over BIOS, such as support for drive sizes up to 9 zettabytes, faster booting process, and support for hard drives larger than 2 TB. It also includes more security features than the legacy BIOS mode, making it the recommended mode for newer PCs that support it
