ULEZ cameras are cameras used by Transport for London (TfL) to monitor the cars that enter and exit the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) in London. They use Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology to record a cars license plate when it drives past, which is then checked against a database to see if the vehicle needs to be charged for entering the ULEZ. The ULEZ is monitored and maintained by a system of cameras that are located at the various entrances and exits of the ULEZ zone, as well as within the zone itself, giving it a great deal of coverage. As of March 3, 2023, there are 1,400 cameras used for Ulez enforcement. Certain entrances and exits in the Ulez zone are not monitored by cameras, but these locations have not been disclosed.
