She is a villainous Cecaelian sea witch who offers a mermaid princess named Ariel a temporary opportunity to become human so that she may earn the love of Prince Eric within three days. Ursula temporarily grants Ariel's wish to live as a human for three days in return for her voice. Unknown to Ariel, this agreement is part of Ursula's bigger plan to trap Ariel's father, King Triton, and steal his magical trident. In the original '80s animated film, Ursula and Ariel had a client-like relationship, where Ursula was willing to help the little mermaid become human. In the live-action adaptation, it was revealed that Ursula is Ariel’s aunt and the younger sister of King Triton.
