The WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) button is a feature supplied with many routers that makes it easier to connect Wi-Fi enabled devices to a secure wireless network. The WPS button is usually located on the back or front panel of the router. When you press the WPS button on the router, it allows wireless devices to connect easily to your home Wi-Fi network without having to constantly remember a password. The WPS feature on your router is NOT the same as Wi-Fi since Wi-Fi is your wireless network.
To use the WPS button to connect a device to a network, you need to verify that the router and the internet-capable device support the WPS feature. You can do this by looking on your modem or router to see if it has a WPS button or by going into the network menu of your internet-capable device to see if the WPS option is available. If both the router and device support WPS, you can follow these steps to set up a WPS (Push Button) connection:
- Using the supplied remote, press the HOME button.
- Select Settings.
- Select Network.
- Under the Device Network screen, select Wi-Fi.
- Under the Network Wi-Fi screen, select Connect via WPS.
- Press the WPS button on the router.
If the WPS connection fails, you can try the following:
- Make sure that the routers WPS feature is turned on.
- Move the device closer to the router.
- Make sure that the router is not in a location with interference from other wireless devices.
- Make sure that the router is not in a location with a weak Wi-Fi signal.
It is important to note that WPS has some security vulnerabilities, and it is recommended to disable the WPS feature on your router when its not in use.
