The marking (banner and footer) acronym required on a DoD document containing controlled unclassified information is CUI. It is mandatory to include a banner marking at the top of the page to alert the user that CUI is present. Additionally, there is a requirement to add the CUI designation indicator to the first page or cover of any document containing CUI. This indicator will be located in the lower right corner and must contain at a minimum the name of the DOD Component determining that the information is CUI. The correct banner marking for UNCLASSIFIED documents with CUI is "CUI".
