The Mercedes-Benz GLE and GLS models have a feature called "Bounce Mode" or "Free Driving Assist" that uses the air suspension to bounce the car up and down to help drivers get out of sand or mud while off-roading. The bouncing feature can be activated when the car is stationary or moving at a low speed, and it is reminiscent of classic modified car hydraulics. The E-Active Body Control system that enables this feature is part of a $6,500 option. The bouncing feature is not available on all Mercedes-Benz models, and it is not clear whether the S-Class has the same bouncing mode as the GLE and GLS. While some people use the bouncing feature to get their SUVs out of mud and sand, others use it to flex in urban areas.
