The hijackers of the September 11, 2001 attacks were 19 men affiliated with al-Qaeda and came from four different countries. Their nationalities were:
- 15 were citizens of Saudi Arabia
- 2 were from the United Arab Emirates
- 1 was from Egypt
- 1 was from Lebanon
Ethnically, they were mostly Arab Muslims from these countries. The ringleader Mohamed Atta was Egyptian, and one hijacker pilot, Ziad Jarrah, was Lebanese. The majority being Saudi nationals made Saudi Arabia the predominant nationality among the hijackers.
