Judaism is an Abrahamic, monotheistic, and ethnic religion that comprises the collective spiritual, cultural, and legal traditions of the Jewish people. Jewish people believe in the Torah, which was the whole of the laws given to the Israelites at Sinai, and they believe they must follow Gods laws which govern their daily life. Jews are an ethnoreligious group including those born Jewish (or "ethnic Jews"), in addition to converts to Judaism. According to Rabbinic Judaism, a Jew is anyone who was either born of a Jewish mother or who converted to Judaism in accordance with halakha. Most Jews by religion identify with either Reform (44%) or Conservative (23%) Judaism, and fewer say they do not belong to a particular denomination (15%) . However, U.S. Jews do not have a single, uniform answer to what being Jewish means, and when asked whether being Jewish is mainly a matter of religion, ancestry, culture, or some combination of those things, Jews respond in a wide variety of ways.
