Eight House Republicans voted to oust Kevin McCarthy as House Speaker on October 3, 2023. The vote in the House of Representatives on the motion to vacate was 216-210, with Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz leading the effort. The following Republicans voted with Gaetz to oust McCarthy as House speaker:

- Tim Burchett of Tennessee
- Eli Crane of Arizona
- Bob Good of Virginia
- Nancy Mace of South Carolina
- Matt Rosendale of Montana
Representative Patrick McHenry of North Carolina will be speaker pro temp until a new one is elected.
