Target is closing nine stores across four states due to theft and organized retail crime that threatens the safety of employees and guests. The stores will close on October 21, 2023, and eligible employees will be offered an opportunity to transfer to other Target locations. More than 150 Target locations will remain open in the areas where closures are taking place. The stores that will be closing are located in major cities across the country, including New York City, Seattle, San Francisco, and Portland. Here is the list of stores that will be closing:

- Seattle - Seattle University Way: 4535 University Way NE - Seattle
- Seattle - Northgate: 301 NE Northgate Way - Seattle
- San Francisco - SF Folsom and 13th St: 1690 Folsom St
- San Francisco - SF Ocean Ave: 1150 Ocean Ave
- San Francisco - SF Stonestown: 3251 20th Ave
- Oakland - Oakland Broadway & 27th: 2650 Broadway
- Portland - Portland Galleria: 939 SW Morrison St.
- Portland - Portland Powell: 3031 SE Powell Blvd.
- Portland - Portland Hollywood: 4030 NE Halsey St.
