"What a Wonderful World" is a song written by Bob Thiele and George David Weiss, first recorded by Louis Armstrong and released in 1967 as a single. The song has a hopeful, optimistic tone with regard to the future, with reference to babies being born into the world and having much to look forward to. The lyrics describe the beauty of nature, such as trees, red roses, blue skies, and clouds of white, and the joy of human connection, such as friends shaking hands and babies growing up. The song was initially offered to Tony Bennett, who turned it down, and then offered to Louis Armstrong. Armstrongs recording was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999.
"Wonderful World" is a different song by Sam Cooke, released in 1960.
