Leftover gravy can be used in many ways. Here are some ideas:
- Stew : Add leftover meat (or new cooked meat), vegetables, and potatoes to the gravy to make a stew
- Freeze it : If you don't have an immediate use for the gravy, freeze it in an airtight container for up to 3 months
- Hot Sandwiches : Pour the gravy over hot cooked meat and serve it on sliced bread
- Salisbury Steaks : Sauté onions and add them to the gravy, then serve the mixture over cooked cube steaks
- Chicken Pot Pie : Add leftover gravy to a chicken pot pie (or turkey pot pie or beef pot pie!)
- Poutine : Top french fries and cheese curds with leftover gravy
- Whisk it into mayonnaise : Mix the gravy with mayonnaise to make a flavorful sandwich spread
- Stir it into soup (or stew) : Use the gravy as a base for soup or stew
- Make a ragù : Use the gravy as a base for a meat sauce to serve over pasta
- Thicken soups : Use the gravy to thicken soups
- Sauce up your hash : Pour the gravy over hash browns or other breakfast dishes
- Upgrade other leftovers : Use the gravy to add flavor to other leftovers, such as mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables
- Make a mouthwatering pasta : Use the gravy as a sauce for pasta dishes
Leftover gravy can be kept in the fridge for up to three days. If you won't use it up in that time, pour the gravy into a zip-top bag and lay it flat on a rimmed baking sheet before freezing it
