In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, turnips are a type of vegetable that can be bought and sold for Bells, the in-game currency. Heres what you can do with turnips:
-
Buy turnips: Every Sunday between 5 am and 12 pm, a boar named Daisy Mae will visit your island and sell turnips from Sow Joans Stalk Market. You can buy turnips in bunches of 10 for a varying price each week, somewhere between 90 and 110 bells per turnip.
-
Sell turnips: You can sell turnips at Nooks Cranny to Timmy and Tommy, like anything else. The trick is that they change prices twice a day: once in the morning and once in the afternoon. The price of turnips fluctuates throughout the week, so you can either lose money or make money depending on when you sell them.
-
Store turnips: You can keep turnips in your inventory pockets, but this will limit what you can carry.
-
Time travel: If you time travel forward throughout the week a couple of days, you can check the turnip prices and sell them when you think youve got the best sell price. However, be careful not to go past Saturday at 10 PM, as your turnips will spoil if not sold by then.
-
Attract ants and flies: If your turnips spoil, you can use them to attract ants and flies. Ants only appear on rotten turnips, so they can be hard to catch. Once youve caught the ant and/or fly, you can sell them to complete your Critterpedia and museum.
Its worth noting that buying and selling turnips requires players to already have a sizable bank account to invest with. This makes it an activity thats best for players whove already built up their island, as the more Bells that players spend, the more profit theyll make if they sell on a good day or the more theyll lose if they sell on a bad day.
