Jane Goodall was known for her pioneering and detailed study of chimpanzees in the wild, particularly at Tanzania's Gombe Stream National Park. She observed their social and family interactions for over 60 years, becoming the world's foremost expert on chimpanzees. Her groundbreaking discovery that chimpanzees make and use tools challenged previous scientific beliefs that only humans could do this. Goodall also founded the Jane Goodall Institute and the Roots & Shoots youth program, working extensively in conservation and animal welfare. She was an influential advocate for environmental protection and animal rights throughout her life.
