The fourth hijacked plane on the morning of September 11, 2001, was United Airlines Flight 93. This flight was scheduled to travel from Newark, New Jersey, to San Francisco, California. It was the last of the four planes to take off and was delayed due to air traffic congestion. After the hijackers took control, the passengers and crew attempted to retake the plane upon learning about the other attacks. Their efforts led to the plane crashing into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, preventing it from reaching the hijackers' intended target, believed to be a significant landmark in Washington, D.C., such as the White House or the U.S. Capitol. All on board were killed, but no one on the ground was injured.
