The original name of McDonald's "Big Mac" when it was first introduced was "The Aristocrat." It was also briefly called "The Blue Ribbon Burger" before the name "Big Mac" was suggested by Esther Glickstein, a 21-year-old advertising secretary at McDonald's corporate headquarters. The Big Mac was created by franchisee Jim Delligatti in 1967 and introduced nationwide in 1968 under its now famous name after these initial names were discarded.
