Deion Sanders has had a number of foot and leg problems stemming from blood clots and poor circulation
. In 2021, he had two toes on his left foot amputated as a result of these issues
. Sanders has spoken publicly regarding his challenges with neuropathy and persistent pain in his foot
. In June 2023, Sanders faced the potential of having his left foot amputated
. However, doctors recommended surgery to address the blood clotting in both feet, and he underwent a nine-hour surgery to remove scar tissue and straighten his toes
. Later that summer, he had another surgery to remove blood clots from his right thigh and straighten two of his remaining toes
. Sanders is currently the head football coach at the University of Colorado
