The Aditya L1 mission was launched on September 2, 2023, at 11:50 AM IST by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). It was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota using the PSLV-C57 rocket. The spacecraft was targeted to be placed in a halo orbit around the Lagrangian Point 1 (L1), about 1.5 million kilometers from Earth, where it continuously observes the Sun without occlusion or eclipses.
The mission's journey to its orbit involved several Earth-bound maneuvers, achieving the halo orbit at L1 on January 6, 2024. Since then, it has been conducting solar studies and observations.
