Canelo Álvarez started boxing at a young age, beginning his amateur career around 10 years old after being inspired by his older brother. He officially started boxing as an amateur around the age of 13. He made his professional boxing debut shortly after turning 15 years old, with his first professional fight taking place on October 29, 2005, against Abraham Gonzalez.
