Albert Einstein died on April 18, 1955, in Princeton, New Jersey. He was 76 years old at the time of his death. He died from internal bleeding caused by the rupture of an abdominal aortic aneurysm. He had refused surgery, expressing his wish to "go when I want to go" and not to have his life prolonged artificially. Einstein passed away early in the morning at Princeton Hospital, having worked nearly until the end of his life.
