Justin Trudeau became the Prime Minister of Canada on November 4, 2015. He served as the 23rd Prime Minister from that date until March 14, 2025, following his swearing-in by Governor General David Johnston. Trudeau led the Liberal Party to a majority government win in the 2015 federal election, which brought the party back from third place to power. He was the second-youngest prime minister in Canadian history at the time of his appointment and is the son of former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau.
