when did melbourne storm start

The Melbourne Storm rugby league club officially started in 1998 as part of the newly formed National Rugby League (NRL) competition. Their first-ever game took place on March 14, 1998, against the Illawarra Dragons, which they won 14-12. The club was the first professional Victorian rugby league team and quickly became successful, reaching the preliminary final in their inaugural season.
