The Yale® Smart Lock with Matter officially launched on June 24, 2025, in the United States.
Launch timeline and pricing
Yale first announced the lock in late March 2025, alongside Google, positioning it as the successor to the discontinued Nest x Yale Lock from 2018. At announcement, the company said it would arrive “later this summer” for $170.
When it actually went on sale, the price had risen to $189.99. Yale told press outlets the increase was due to tariff-related costs. The lock became available the next day, June 24, 2025, via ShopYaleHome.com, Amazon, and select retailers in the U.S.
Finishes and availability
At launch, two finishes were available:
- Snow (white)
- Matte Black
A third finish, Ash (gray), was scheduled for fall 2025.
As of the initial rollout, the Yale Smart Lock with Matter was a U.S.-only product. U.K. pricing and availability had not been announced at launch.
What “with Matter” means here
This model has Matter-over-Thread built directly into the lock, so it doesn’t need an add‑on module to work with Matter ecosystems. That means it can pair with:
- Google Home
- Apple Home
- Amazon Alexa
- Samsung SmartThings
- Other Matter‑certified platforms
You do need a Matter hub with Thread support (for example, a Nest Hub (2nd gen), Nest Hub Max, Nest Wifi Pro, or Google TV Streamer in Google’s ecosystem).
How it fits into Yale’s Matter history
Yale has been adding Matter support to its lineup for years. In 2022, it introduced the Yale Assure Lock 2 family and a standalone Matter Smart Module for older Assure locks, making some of the earliest Matter‑compatible smart locks on the market. The 2025 “Yale Smart Lock with Matter” is a newer, purpose‑built deadbolt designed specifically around Google Home and native Matter‑over‑Thread, rather than an upgrade path for existing hardware.
So if you’re looking for the release date of the product literally named “Yale Smart Lock with Matter,” it hit the market on June 24, 2025.
