Top of the Pops ended its run as a weekly television show on 30 July 2006. The final edition was broadcast on that date after 42 years on air, starting from 1 January 1964. Although the weekly program ended, the Top of the Pops brand continued with specials like Christmas editions and the archival series Top of the Pops 2.
