Babies typically start to get their first teeth around 6 months of age , although it can vary widely. Some babies may begin teething as early as 3 to 4 months , while others might not get their first tooth until after their first birthday. The first teeth to come in are usually the two lower front teeth (central incisors). By the time most children are 2 to 3 years old , they usually have a full set of 20 baby teeth. Teething generally follows this order:

  • Bottom central incisors (around 5-7 months)
  • Top central incisors (around 6-8 months)
  • Top lateral incisors (around 9-11 months)
  • Bottom lateral incisors (around 10-12 months)
  • First molars (around 12-16 months)
  • Canines (around 16-20 months)
  • Second molars (around 20-30 months)

Most babies have all their baby teeth by about age 3.
