when do baby bunnies leave the nest

Baby bunnies typically leave the nest at around 3 to 4 weeks of age. At this point, their eyes are open, ears are upright, and they are about the size of a tennis ball or larger. By 3 to 4 weeks, they are beginning to eat more on their own and are fully independent, able to survive in the wild. Before leaving the nest, young bunnies start exploring and nibbling on plants at about 2 weeks but still return to the nest and nurse for some time. The riskier first week of independence is when they learn to hide and escape from predators. Mothers usually feed the babies only twice a day, at dawn and dusk, and stay away the rest of the time to avoid attracting predators to the nest. It is important not to move the nest or the babies, as the mother will not find them if relocated.
