The flag should be put back up (raised back to the top of the pole) at sunset on the same day it is flown at half-staff, except on Memorial Day when it should be raised to full staff at noon. When lowering the flag to half-staff, it is customary to first raise it briskly to the top of the pole before lowering it to half-staff, and when putting it back up at the end of the day, raise it again to the top of the pole before taking it down for the night.
