There are two Cyberpunk-related releases to clarify:
- Cyberpunk 2.0 — This is an update (patch 2.0) for Cyberpunk 2077. It was released on September 21, 2023. The patch brought major changes such as vehicle combat, skill tree reworks, police AI improvements, and more, effectively making the base game feel like a new experience.
- Cyberpunk 2 (Project Orion) — This is the full sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, a new game in development. It entered pre-production in May 2025 and is expected to have a long development cycle. CD Projekt Red has not given a specific release date but estimates suggest Cyberpunk 2 might release around 2029 or 2030, potentially even later depending on development challenges.
So, while Cyberpunk 2.0 (the update) is already out, the next full game, Cyberpunk 2, is still years away.
